39262_60_news_hub_multi_630x0-2Google are working on a smart phone technology that draws close parallels with the cell phone technology concept in “The Dark Knight”. The prototype technology is believed to be able to map a person’s surroundings in 3D.

Google has said the technology can be an asset for people who want to pursue indoor 3D gaming and blind people. Developers have been asked to send in ideas and concepts for the types of mobile apps that would be used on the device.

Google has code-named the work as “Project Tango”. The technology can map over 250,000 3D measurements every second. it then updates its position including the orientation in real-time, then combines that data into a single 3D model of space.

In “The Dark Knight”, the Batman is having trouble and is desperate to find The joker and uses 3D mapping devices to locate the Joker’s position.
