Non-Steam Batman: Arkham Save Files Go Kaputt with the Demise of Games for Windows – Live

For those who purchased any of the previous Batman: Arkham games anywhere other than the game client Steam, you will not be able to retain your save files while WB updates the games to remove any trace of Games for Windows – Live.

gamesforwinliveLet me get this out of the way, I am not a gamer by any stretch and even further from there, a PC gamer. Therefore, I was completely unaware of the issues that apparently have plagued Games for Windows – Live for years. I played Batman: Arkham Asylum on PC utilizing the Games for Windows – Live and I don’t particularly remember having any issues, but as I said before, I’m not a gamer, so I don’t really have a reference point for what’s good and what’s not. But recently Microsoft announced that Games for Windows – Live will be closing its doors within the year. With that, many game publishers have started the transition to remove anything from GfWL, and of course that includes WB and the Batman: Arkham games.

WB is planning to move the Arkham games over to the gaming client Steam as they begin the process of patching up the software and removing GfWL, but the bad news here is that for those of you who did not purchase the games on Steam, the update will delete your save files for the coveted Batman games. Sad day for Batfans and gamers.

For those of you who did not purchase the games on Steam, WB have provided instructions on how to redeem a new copy on Steam.

Look on the bright side, at least you’ll have the opportunity to play through those wonderful games again, right? Either way, even if you’re too frustrated to play through the games again, never fear for Batman: Arkham Origins is only 5 days away!

Is the death and removal of Games for Windows – Live worth the sacrifice of your Arkham Asylum and Arkham City save files? Let me know.
