Those of you who require more Gotham City in your lives, but desire to consume it in the form of a TV program should look no further than the upcoming “Gotham” television series, which will provide a live-action portrayal of Gotham City, while focusing on the protagonist none other than our beloved James Gordon.
“Gotham,” written by the creator of CBS’ “The Mentalist,” is produced by Warner Brothers Television, and will be offered as an hour long crime-drama show, set prior to the emergence of Batman.
It explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham City famous. In “Gotham,” Gordon is still a detective with the Gotham City Police Department and has yet to meet Batman, who will not be part of the series.
Casting has not yet been determined, but we can safely assume that Gary Oldman will not reprise his role as the respectable, tough, and incorruptible top-cop, particularly because “Gotham” will focus on a young Gordon-before-Batman.
No release date has been set yet.
Let’s hope they get the mustache right!
