Justice League is getting a movie, now Suicide Squad? Well, well, well there seems to be a lot of things coming out the woodworks as of late. Click the jump to see more.
This is surprising, but for those who have been keeping up with this news. This is no surprise to you. According to Dan Lin who has produced Gangster Squad and writer, Will Beall, who is writing the Justice League as we speak. Lin talked about adapting the comic book Suicide Squad as a movie. Here’s what he says:
“[Suicide Squad] has a script from Justin Marks, but that is on a hold right now. I think Warner Brothers wants to finish their A-list stories first and then we’ll talk about stories like Suicide Squad.”
The thing is this script has been in the works for a few years now at Warner Bros. How many of those years has it been? Uhhhh…wouldn’t be able to really tell you. However, it’s interesting that Lin is teasing this information out especially since the Justice League movie hasn’t even been fully developed as of yet. Writer, Will Beall is still writing the script which may fall hard on its own ass. They’re doing things that may look like they’re ripping off of The Avengers, which it’s not because the inspiration is directly from the comic books. However, non-comic book readers are not going to see it that way hence the movie falling on its ass. That’s a good move by Warner Bros. make it seem like we’re copying Marvel.
As for Suicide Squad movie adaptation, I would totally like to see it; but it wouldn’t be good to adapt The New 52’s version since we haven’t had a representation of Harley Quinn on-screen yet. They would have to adapt the pre-New 52’s to make this movie work. Now, I wouldn’t mind if this movie becomes an animated feature by Warner Bros. but a live-action movie is a stretch. Let’s just wait to see if the Justice League movie is decent and let’s talk about Suicide Squad later.
