The Dark Knight Rises Deleted scene about Bane

So apparently there was a few scenes that were cut from the film that explained more about Bane’s mask, injury, and back story. The costume designer Lindy Hemming was interviewed about Bane and his backstory. She has yet to see The Dark Knight Rises in theaters yet…that stopped me. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR LINDY??? GO NOW!!!!! Just kidding I’m sure you are very busy with your next project and bravo on the costumes for this movie. She was talking about a flash back sequence that Nolan had filmed for Bane. This is what she said:

The thing that you should have seen during that sequence is [Bane] being injured in his youth. So one of the fundamental things about his costume is that he has this scar from the back injury. Even if he hasn’t got the bulletproof vest on, he still has to wear the waist belt and the braces. In that scene in the prison, where he’s learning to fight the same way Batman learned to fight, he’s wearing an early version of his waist belt. It’s showing support, but it’s not the finished one he eventually wears. He’s also wearing an early version of his gas mask, all glued together … If you look at the film, unless they’ve cut it—and I’m sure they haven’t—there’s a whole early section for Tom Hardy where he’s fighting and being taunted by people. He’s got chains on him, and he’s standing on a wooden thing while people are attacking him. And in that scene, he’s wearing a much more ragged, primitive version of the mask.

Looks like we missed out on that, although it may be included in the script or novelization of the film. I currently have the novel so I will be reading that soon! I’m not disappointed that we didn’t get to see this in the film, but I would have liked to see that. No matter Nolan made a master piece and I’m very pleased with it. Hopefully we will get this as another deleted scene on the blu-ray when it releases!
